A few years back, a woman interviewed a lovely lady wearing a sailor fuku. The interview was both bizarre and entertaining, and it went viral.
Today, we know this lady as Dasha Nekrasova, co-host of the Red Scare podcast and actress in various shows and movies!
Many would consider her career choices a little odd—me included—but that’s precisely what makes Dasha so captivating! Dasha has carved out a niche that’s as unpredictable as it is intriguing.
So, who is she, and what was her journey to stardom like? The answers are waiting for you below!
Early Life

Daria Dmitrievna Nekrasova, also known as Dasha, was born in Minsk in February 1991. At that time, Belarus was still part of the Soviet Union.
Although Belarus declared its sovereignty in July 1990 and gained independence in August 1991, it was a period of uncertainty.
For Dasha’s parents, both acrobats, this was enough to decide that moving to the U.S. might help them find a more stable foundation for their future.
At the age of four, Dasha and her family relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she would grow up.
Dasha graduated from the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts in 2008 before studying sociology and philosophy at Mills College.
Career
Dasha’s career kicked off with several appearances in music videos for artists like Yumi Zouma.
Quickly after, Dasha made her first feature film debut in Wobble Palace (2018). Later, she took on the leading role in the dark comedy The Softness of Bodies, where her performance was met with praise.
Viral Interview
Dasha was promoting Wobble Palace when she found herself in an interview with InfoWars.
Now, this would be completely normal if it wasn’t for the fact that InfoWars is a right-wing media outlet and, during the interview, Dasha supported Bernie Sanders for being a socialist.
There’s also the fact that she was also wearing a Japanese schoolgirl outfit that looked like the outfit of the anime character Sailor Moon.
The whimsical scene made for an excellent viral video, earning her the nickname “Sailor Socialism.” The video even made its way onto Last Week Tonight with John Oliver!
Starting the Red Scare Podcast and Going into Fashion
In March 2018, Dasha co-founded the podcast Red Scare with Anna Khachiyan, an American culture critic and writer.
As her podcast gained momentum, Dasha decided to join her co-host on the runway! She modeled designer Rachel Comey’s Fall 2019 collection at the Marlborough Art Gallery in Manhattan.
The Rise of her Acting Career
Dasha’s acting career flourished when she took on a supporting role in season three of HBO’s acclaimed drama Succession.
She played a crisis PR representative with a sharp, no-nonsense personality—and aced it!
She shared in the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series as a part of the cast.
Different Ventures
Dasha took the director’s chair for the first time in 2020 with the Scare of Sixty-First, based on Jeffery Epstein’s death conspiracies.
The movie premiered at the 71st Berlin International Film Festival and won the Best First Feature award, marking a significant milestone in her career!
In late 2020, Dasah directed the music performance of Oneohtrix Point Never’s “I Don’t Love Me Anymore” for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Net Worth

Many resources claim Dasha already built a fortune between $2 and $5 million!
No houses or cars are listed publicly with her name on them, but with such a fortune, she’s bound to have something hidden up her sleeve!
Personal Life
Dasha Nekrasova was previously engaged to comedian and talk-show host Adam Friedland, but their relationship ended before they could tie the knot.
She later had a short-lived romance with musician Daniel Lopatin, also known as Oneohtrix Point Never.
Recently, rumors have circulated about Dasha potentially dating Louis C.K., who is nearly 30 years older than her.
Louis, who has two daughters from a previous marriage, has not confirmed the speculation, nor has Dasha addressed it publicly.
Quick Recap
So, what do you think of Dasha Nekrasova’s career choices? Interesting, right?
From my perspective, she’s a woman who isn’t afraid of trying new things and expressing herself.
She began acting in music videos and soon followed that with excellent roles like her role in Succession.
She also started a podcast where she speaks her mind freely and openly, letting everyone know exactly where she stands!
