People first visiting your site or hear of your business have no reason to trust you. They don’t know if you’ll follow through on what you say, stand behind a product, or provide excellent service. Online reviews help them see that others are happy with you and prompt them to try you out.

What if your business is fairly new? How do you go about getting online reviews, and where should you showcase them for the best advantage?
1. Offer An Online Review Feature On Your Site
Make leaving a review as simple as clicking on a link, choosing a star rating, and offering a comment. One thing to consider is only allowing those who’ve purchased the item from you to review it. Otherwise, you risk trolls coming to your pages and throwing off the quality of your reviews.

Once you have a few on your site, more people should follow and add their own thoughts.

3. Send Out an Email
Your first step should be reaching out to your regular customers. Send an email telling them how valued they are as a client of yours. Explain that you’re trying to get some online reviews to showcase on your site, social media, and advertising and ask if they’d be willing to help you. Not everyone will respond, but your raving fans are much more likely to leave a review for others to read.

It doesn’t matter where you collect them as long as you share them with potential leads.
5. Ask For Reviews In-Person
If you run a brick-and-mortar store or meet with clients in an office, ask them if they are happy with your services. If they say yes, tell them you’d appreciate a positive online review so you can grow your business and reach new customers.
Be honest about why you want the review. They already know it is so you can attract new leads. There is no reason to be dishonest about the reason you’re asking. Most people want to help you out and will if you just ask.

The more times you request a review in both subtle and direct ways, the more likely you’ll receive them.
Just make sure your customer service is excellent first. The last thing you want is to collect a ton of poor reviews that damage your reputation. If you’re putting customers first and have solid customer experience, you should receive mostly positive reviews.
