Is There a Fallout Shelter Save Editor? Here’s Everything You Should Know

Fallout Shelter is a post-apocalyptic free-to-play game where you, the Overseer, build and manage a vault to survive.

Developed by Bethesda Game Studios, Fallout Shelter is a multi-awarded game loved for its immersive lore and creative offerings.

If you’ve been playing the game for as long as I have, you may encounter an issue where you want to switch platforms but have difficulties migrating your saved progress. Or perhaps you simply want to make the game a lot easier.

Is there a Fallout Shelter save editor you can use? Here’s everything you should know.

What Can You Do With a Save Editor?

Save editors are, in a nutshell, tools that modify the data of a game. This lets players alter all aspects of the game, such as character stats, inventory items, weapons, NPCs, and other settings you can’t change otherwise.

In short, it lets you take full control of the game outside the standard in-game rules.

Some Fallout Shelter players use save editing tools to skip the early game grind after having their initial progress deleted or corrupted. Others experiment with their layouts, increase their inventories, and customize their game experience as they see fit.

Is There a Fallout Shelter Save Editor?

Fortunately, there are save editors you can use to modify your Fallout Shelter account. And you can do this for both PC and mobile versions.

How to Use Fallout Shelter Save Editor

The first thing you need to do is locate your saved game data.

Steam users can find it on “C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\FalloutShelter.” Android players have it on “storage/sdcard/Android/data/com.bethsoft.falloutshelter/files.”

If you’re using the PC launcher, your Fallout Shelter data should be on “Documents\My Games\Fallout Shelter.”

  1. First, go to “https://rakion99.github.io/shelter-editor/.”
  2. Open your device’s user files and locate your Fallout Shelter game data.
  3. Find the “Vault1.sav” file and drag it onto the save editor.
  4. You can also tap the save editor’s “choose file” button to track the save file manually.
  5. One done, the save editor will display the changes you can make to your game data.

From there, you can increase the number of supplies in your inventory, modify dweller appearances, alter weapons, stats, and armories, and customize the vault.

Save your configurations in the same game data folder, replacing the first .sav file.

If you’re using a mobile phone, you may need to connect the smartphone to a computer to modify your game’s saved files.

Are Save Editors Safe to Use For Your Games?

Save editors are generally safe to use, having little to no risk of infecting your computer with a virus. That’s because .sav files are usually only used to record game progress, and can only be read by the designated application.

Nevertheless, staying vigilant of the type of data you download from the internet is a smart way to steer clear of malicious malware.

Final Thoughts

It’s a tale as old as time. Or at least the time when computer games were invented. For better or for worse, players often find ways to get around the rules and tweak the game.

And now you know how to customize Fallout Shelter with a save editor. But it’s your game, so have fun messing around!
