You can “unofficially” access “some” aspects of Roblox on the Nintendo Switch, but you can’t play the game itself, not normally at least.
This might come as a surprise because you might have heard some rumours about the game’s availability on the Switch, but there’s actually a lot of confusion to clear here, so bear with me.
Is Roblox Playable on the Nintendo Switch?
The short answer is yes, but there are a lot of “buts”. While you can aspect some parts of the game or even run it to some extent, Roblox isn’t exactly playable on the Switch. I’ll explain how to unofficially access the game and what the limitations are in a minute.
I know, you heard somewhere that it’s fully playable, and now you’re stumped that it’s not, right?
The confusion that may have led you and other people to blogs like this is the appearance of a game called “Robox” on the Nintendo eStore. Robox (without an L) obviously has a striking similarity to the name, but the gameplay is completely different.
That game is about robots playing boxing (Robot Boxing → Robox). Despite the different gameplay, the name is so similar that even search engines get confused if you ask for Robox (not Roblox) gameplay. You’ll comically struggle to explain to the search engine that you’re looking for the boxing game.
How to Access Roblox on the Nintendo Switch?
With the Robox issue explained, it’s time to get to business.
As of April 2025, Roblox is not officially available on the Nintendo Switch. The platform has not been released for Switch, and Nintendo has not announced any plans to support it.
However, there are a few unofficial ways people try to access Roblox on the Switch, though none are perfect.

Hacking Your Switch
One method involves modding the Switch to run Android, since Roblox is available on mobile devices. This requires hacking the console, which can void your warranty, risk bricking the system, or even get your Nintendo account banned. Performance may also be poor since the Switch isn’t optimized for Roblox.
Needless to say, this isn’t recommended at all. The point of playing on the switch is portability, and if you can easily play Roblox on your phone, why all the hassle and risk?
Streaming the Game
Another workaround is streaming Roblox from a PC or Xbox to the Switch using remote play apps, but this introduces lag and isn’t a smooth experience. Plus, you took portability out of the formula.
Accessing the Limited Roblox Web Browser on the Switch
There’s another method to access limited aspects of the game on the Switch, but again, a lot of hassle without much reward.
The idea is to change the regular DNS to the unofficial DNS. Power on your Switch, and follow these steps:
- Go to System Settings. This is the gear icon on the HOME Menu.
- Select “Internet” from the left-hand menu.
- Choose “Internet Settings”. Your Switch will start searching for Wi-Fi networks.
- Select your connected Wi-Fi network.
- Choose “Change Settings”.
- Scroll down to “DNS Settings” and select “Manual”.
- Enter a custom Primary DNS server. Some commonly suggested (but potentially unreliable or risky) DNS servers for this purpose include:
- 045.055.142.122
- 046.036.225.194
- 081.004.012.039
Note: Be aware that these are third-party servers, and their reliability and security cannot be guaranteed.

- Optionally, enter a Secondary DNS server. You can often leave this blank or use a public DNS like 8.8.8.8 (Google) or 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare).
- Select “Save”.
- Attempt to connect to your Wi-Fi network. You might get a “Registration is required to use this network” message or a similar prompt. Select it.
- You should now be redirected to a basic web browser. If not, try opening a game that requires internet access (like the eShop, although it might not load properly). This might trigger the browser.
- Once the browser is open, type roblox.com into the address bar and go to the website.
- You can then log in to your Roblox account.
- You will be able to view your profile, avatar customization options, and the catalog.
What You Can Do (With the Unofficial Browser Method):

- Access the Roblox Website: By changing your Switch’s DNS settings, you can trick it into opening a basic web browser. This allows you to navigate to the Roblox website (roblox.com).
- Log in to your Roblox Account: Once on the website, you can enter your username and password to log in to your Roblox account.
- View your Profile: You can see your avatar, friends list, groups, badges, and other profile information.
- Browse the Avatar Shop/Catalog: You can look at the various items available for customizing your avatar.
- Potentially redeem codes: Some users have reported being able to redeem Robux or game codes through the website.
I hate to say this, but the simplest solution is to play Roblox on a supported device like a phone, tablet, PC, or Xbox while waiting for an official Switch release (if it ever happens).
