When you are doing your research you need to use a keyword tool. There are a lot of tools on the market, but Google gives you a free tool to help out with research.
The Google Adwords Keyword Tool lets you key in phrases or keywords into the interface and see what the competition is. When you click on the “Competition” tab from the tool you can list them from high competition to low competition. This will give you at least 10-15 phrases that you can use in your blog post. This is a very broad keyword. In fact, horse brushes is also a broad keyword. When you are making your posts, you want to include the phrases “brushes” and “horse brushes” but you also want to include your niche keywords like “stiff bristled horse brushes.” This gives the search engines a broad scope of what your site is about, but also ranks you for the low competition keywords.
